The region of Banat is situated among three countries: Romania, Serbia, and Hungary. The largest city is Timișoara in Romania.
Banat was part of the Hungarian kingdom, the Ottoman Empire, and the Austrian Empire before being divided by the Treaty of Trianon in 1920 after WWI among the above 3 countries. The largest part of the region is now located in Romania.
Banat is a mixture of cultures, traditions and legends. Many ethnic groups lived harmoniously together here. The result is a rich culture at many levels of society.
