Bukovina is a historical region situated in actual Romania and Ukraine.
During the Middle Ages Bukovina became part of Moldavia, under the reign of the Hungarian Kingdom. Later it became an administrative district under the Habsburg Monarchy until 1918. After WW2, the region was permanently split between Romania and Ukraine.
Romanian Bukovina is located now partly in the Suceava County, and three localities in the Botoșani County.
Bukovina is known for its nature and UNESCO heritage of world-famous monasteries and churches.
